A logical leap?

One thing floating around as speculation, but not a far reach as I can see it. If they were excising the US Attorneys because, in spite of being conservative Republicans all, they were still considered too honorable to go along with GOP partisan plans, then what keeps the GOP from partisan use of everything else?

If one is using US attorneys to attack Democrats or avoid prosecution for bribery or caging, then what is to prevent using secret wire taping for partisan purposes as well.

This would of course be Watergate on steroids, not just the Democratic National Headquarters but every single activist, and office in the country as well as those like Acorn and IVAW that are not specifically partisan.

The problem with secrecy is that anything becomes possible. The problem with lying is that very much worse than is admitted might easily be believed.

Anonymous loses credibility by overstating his/her case. I'm assuming that he/she is actually interested in an intelligent exchange of ideas, as opposed to spraying verbal abuse like shotgun pellets and not caring whether you are believed or not.

Yes, there is a huge amount of ignorance, arrogance, racism and xenophobia in the US. I also agree that these traits will cause a lot of inexcusable suffering (for other countries) and humiliation (for the US) both now and in the future. Case in point: Iraq.

However, consider three points. One, issuing a blanket condemnation of three hundred million Americans is, statistically speaking, ignorant. Two, you can find inspiring counter-examples if you try (which you probably haven't). Three, these unpleasant traits exist in sizeable quantities in your country as well.

Amendment, that is, but tequila is always a second option. That's about the only way to avoid charges of perjury and obstruction. Jeez...is Goodling that much smarter than her boss? After all, she did go to Falwell's law school. True. That and that alone is what qualified her to be so righteous in judging prosecutors who's been somewhere she hadn't ~ in a real court of law trying bad guys in front of a judge.

Hmmm...I thought the repugs were so safe and secure being the smug "moral majority" but now it's for certain they are neither. Neither are they fiscally responsible or do they follow the teachings of Christ and the Bible.

The present administration has become the cosa nostra of democratic principles. And Rudy is from the epicenter of that very same mindet of wanting to avoid being accountable for their past the same way Bush avoided being accountable of being a drunken AWOL Nam dodger.

If we can't judge Rudy by his past ~ then what are we to judge him by? "Trust me, I'll be a better president than the last one"?

I am so sorry for this long and off-topic comment, but I feel the only way one citizen can be heard loudly enough is to ask my fellow blog commenters for help…so here goes…

It’s time to put Nevada’s kids before our state’s special interest lobby. It really comes down to kids versus casino profits. A proposal for a state lottery has failed 24 times since 1975, and the people have never gotten the chance to decide. Now the time has come!

With the state facing budget shortfalls, tremendous growth, and no desire to increase the tax burden on the working family, I believe a lottery is one of the answers to the question of how we should improve education.

The state constitution must be amended to approve a state lottery, which means the people have the final vote. The first hurdle was cleared again this year when the State Assembly passed a bi-partisan resolution authorizing a lottery. But, why haven’t the people had the final say in the past 32 years? Just follow the money.

It is estimated that a state lottery (which 42 other states have) would be able to generate between 50 to 200 million dollars a year. This money, that the approved Assembly resolution dictates, would be earmarked for public school students in the form of textbooks and other educational materials. Why not approve millions for textbooks and supplies in the past 32 years? Just follow the money.

With 73% of Nevadans favoring a lottery, why would it not pass on this the 25th attempt? Namely, because five State Senators who sat on the Judiciary Committee and voted it down two years ago, remain on the committee this current legislative session. Just follow the money for your reason why they don’t support it.

At the Assembly hearing, in which the resolution passed, Boyd Gaming and Station Casinos argued that 595 jobs would be lost if the state had a lottery. I argue that the casino industry is resilient. They have overcoming a post 9/11 travel slump, and they have overcoming the threat of federal regulations and taxes, and they will over come this. They receive millions in room tax revenue to promote their industry and when they claimed the sky was falling because of the legalization of gaming in Atlantic City, they bounced back and embrace these new markets and thus enhanced their profits.

As we all know, the gaming industry has long controlled the Nevada legislature through political donations and the best lobbyists money can buy. If you would like to know why the lottery would fail, it is because of they fear the lost revenues, and they have invested millions in political donations.

The five state senators on the judiciary committee that voted last year against allowing the people to decide if our state has a lottery are: Mark Amodei (Chair, R-Carson City), Maurice Washington (Vice Chair, R-Washoe), Mike McGinness (R-Central NV), Dennis Nolan (R-Clark,) and Terry Care (D-Clark).

Just this past election cycle, the Senate Judiciary Chairman, Mark Amodei (email: mamodei@sen.state.nv.us) received $5,000 from both Boyd Gaming and Stations Casino, not to mention $5,000 from MGM/Mirage and Harrahs, throw in another $7,500 from IGT, $2,500 from LV Sands, and a thousand each from Herbst Gaming, the Peppermill, and Atlantis, and you get his $33,000 picture.

The Vice Chairman of the committee, Maurice Washington (email: mwashington@sen.state.nv.us), also received $5,000 from Boyd Gaming, Stations Casinos, MGM/Mirage, Michael Gaughn and Harrahs. That $25,000 is just the tip of his iceberg!

Combine this with Senator Dennis Nolan (email: dnolan@sen.state.nv.us) who received $5,000 from Stations in cash and $15,000 from the Stardust and Encore of in-kind donations (plus $13,000+ from other gamers); and with Senator Mike McGinness’ (email: mmcginness@sen.state.nv.us) combined donation of $5,000 from Stations and Boyd and the $20,000 in donations from other gamers….and you know why our kids don’t stand a chance.

The fifth senator that voted against the lottery during the past session is Terry Care (email: tcare@sen.state.nv.us) and his political contribution sheet for this past election is not available from the Sectary of State’s website.

So let’s just review the four senators’ who available information was on-line: From the companies who lobbied against the lottery, Stations Casinos and Boyd Gaming, they gave a combined total of $45,000 in campaign contributions, now add the other gamers and you’ve got at least $120,000 working against our kids with just four senators.

These Senators have got to hear from the people that elected them, not just the special interest that financed their campaign. It is not a North/South or Republican/Democrat issue…it is an issue about our kids, our state’s future, and our need to lesson the tax burden on working families.

Please let these five senators hear from you. glad to find your site- an intelligent person paying attention to politics in Nevada- finally!

Are you near Carson City? Is there any chance you are going to the debate tomorrow? If you're not a union member you can't get in, but you can join a Q&A session with Biden at 9am and/or Kucinich at 3pm at Comma Coffee.

The reason I ask is because I'm on a mission to get a politician on film regarding WTC 7? I hope you've already heard of it. If not, ask yourself why didn't the media play this tower's collapse over and over like they did the other two- why did the 9/11 Commission refuse to include any mention of it in the official report?

Anyway, as you might be able to tell from my url, I'm not from anywhere near Carson City... so I'm hoping to live vicariously through someone like you (- ; I'd like to start confronting politicians- with direct questions and video cam in hand. So if there's a chance in hell that you have a video camera and would like to do a small action towards restoring our democracy and world peace, I beg of you to consider going to one of the Q&A sessions and asking Biden/Kucinich something like, "Have you heard of the controversy surrounding WTC 7? Why do you think it fell?" No matter their response, I think it'd be a huge hit on youtube... and it'd be one down, 534 to go :-D

If you believe as many do that the US entry into Iraq was a monumental blunder wait to see the blunder that’s on the books for us. It is time we learn what we are dealing with.

We were all taught, “Money is the root of all evil”. It is a lesson drilled into our heads, soon as we were able to read.

But did we read, or did we listen? No, since the beginning of history it’s been, “we buy their books, we send them to school, and they tear the pages out.”

Now we are dealing with the “Law of unlimited Funds”.

Black Gold (Texas Tea) is the source for acquiring unlimited funds.

The “Law of Unlimited Funds” is… “When you have more money than you can possibly spend on material things… then you buy people and power.”

Think for a moment how many oil billionaires there are in the world and what you can buy and do with over a billion dollars.

You have entered the world of “Unlimited Funds” when you can direct top echelon traffic like a cop.

No knocking a policeman’s work, it is essential for a sane society, but when others have that power to make you stop, go around, go right, go left, to bring you to attention then you have created a big OOPS.

We like so many boneheads in the past have chosen to follow the ageless social tendency that allows people with unlimited funds to shape our destiny.

Just like those past boneheads we asked for our situation and we have allowed our government structure to fall into the hands of people with unlimited funds.

The smell of oil reeks in the White House.

We’re not dumb. We know that something really wrong is happening. We see it happening. Yet we have allowed ourselves to become zombies.

Regardless of the back and fourth charade that the Democrats and Republicans play, people in the world (here and elsewhere) with Unlimited Funds have directed the US to establish permanent outposts throughout the Arab world, just like it was in the old days.

We are no longer a democratic society, “of the people, for the people, and by the people”. We have allowed ourselves to become traffic.

How many voices prior to our entry into Iraq were warning that creating a US like democracy in Iraq was a mistake (and by the way, hundreds and hundreds of thousands of troops were needed to do the job of creating a democracy there if it were indeed possible)? Did it make sense to decide to go into Iraq with less than a quarter of the troops it would take to do the job?

Did our leaders really want to create a democratic Iraq or was something else in their craw?

Democracy was only a ploy, and all that WMD talk just blarney. No country, not even one lead by a sadist will send an atom bomb hurling through the air at us. Those in our government are quite aware that and know that the one that does hit us will come anonymously but it is to their advantage to have us believe otherwise.

Soon as the Presidency was established the present plan went into action. Our intrepid leaders knew that a hundred and fifty thousand troops were insufficient to do what they were telling us they were going to do, but for establishing permanent occupation bases in Iraq, well that would be enough.

Right up to the last election we were told that was enough. The latest ?
“change of direction” is only a feint to hide their real intent. It was their intention from the beginning to have Beau Gest (Foreign Legion) like forts placed all over the area.

We already have permanent bases in most of the Middle East. But mark my words, that unless something happens to stop it, you will soon see permanent US bases in Iran, Syria, Egypt, and Lebanon.

And like obedient zombies we will approve a draft and salute as heroes the deciders that unlimited fund people, reeking of oil money, have burdened on us.

The world has a way of dealing with unlimited funds people, just wait till you see the trouble that this blunder gets us into.
