Perjury and obstruction are OK, as long as you are a Republican
I expected that once Scooter Libby was sentenced to the slammer, there would be calls from the usual wingnuts for Bush to give him a pardon. But what is interesting is how even the mainstream Republicans now want Libby pardoned.
Hey Rudy Giuliani, as a former federal prosecutor, do you think it's OK to lie to investigators?
Or how about all those Republicans who voted to impeach Bill Clinton for lying? Maybe we should go back and replay those speeches about how important it is to tell the truth, and anyone who doesn't should pay the price.
Of course, asking for consistency from members of the the Hypocrite party is like asking an alligator to give up meat.
So much for free market enterprise
We hear a lot about how the Bush Administration is so in favor of free enterprise. No, we can't negotiate Medicare drug prices because it would hurt free enterprise.
Yet, when it comes to protecting favored interests, they will stomp on the entire concept of free enterprise.
Here is a story about how the Department of Agriculture is trying to stop a Kansas beef producer from testing its cows for Mad Cow Disease.
A beef producer in the western state of Kansas, Creekstone Farms Premium Beef, wants to test all of its cows.
Larger meat companies feared that move because, if Creekstone should test its meat and advertised it as safe, they might have to perform the expensive tests on their larger herds as well.
Funny how those principles the Bush Administration says it holds so dear always seem to benefit their friends, and then change to benefit their friends again. What do you call someone whose principles change with the wind? Yea, a flip-flopper.
