Spitzer's zipper

New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer gets caught spending quality time (and quality money) with a prostitute.

Spitzer was a rising star, likely to be a presidential candidate in 2016. Not so much now.

Here in Nevada where prostitution is legal, we say so what. If our governor was sighted by the press corp at a brothel, I doubt they would even report it.

The Republicans are calling for him to resign. And I would echo that call, if the RNC would also call for Sen. David Vitter to resign as well, since he did exactly the same thing at Spitzer.

That's the problem with being holier-than-thou. The hypocrisy runs very deep.

The interesting backstory here is that the feds discovered this prostitution ring because they were looking into possible (small scale) money laundering by Spitzer. Turns out the suspicious money transfers were to pay for these high-priced call girls. Now, such transfers of funds usually doesn't raise an eyebrow. But Spitzer made his name by going after Wall Street, and he made a lot of enemies.

And how is it that Spitzer's name was leaked so fast, while Vitter's wasn't? Could it be that the Justice Department might have been politicized by Bush and Alberto Gonzales?
