The American Enterprise Institute wants to go to war in Iran:
If it does come to war, Mr Muravchik said Iran would retaliate, but that on balance it would be worth it to stop a country that he said had "Death to America" as its official slogan."We have to gird our loins and prepare to absorb the counter-shock," he said.
Josh Muravchik, a Middle East specialist at the AEI, thinks this is a great idea, and all we have to do is "gird our loins."
Of course, it's not his loins that are in danger. It's the 150k+ Americans in Iraq who would be on the front line of this action. Iran could and would forment a revolt among the Shiites against American forces, for which we do not have the power to stop. We can't deal with the minority Sunni insurgents. If the Shiites go into all-out war, then we'll be lucky to get our people out of there.
If Mr. Muravchik found his butt planted in Basra, would he still want to attack Iran? Could he "gird his loins" knowing that the whole place was going to blow up?
This is lunacy, sheer lunacy from a man hoping to prove to the world that he is a tough guy.
